1-14-21 THOUGHTS

As you enter our house, you are greeted with a chalk board with a scripture on it.  I love my wife for these little things.  Right now, James 3:17-18 is on it.  I’ve expanded the context a bit to get this morning’s thoughts.

Jas 3:13-18     Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.  14  But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 15  This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic [NIV “of the devil]. 16  For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. 17  But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 18  And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Verse 14 above speaks of a selfish man, a man who is jealous with ambition toward his own things. He is arrogant.       IT’S ALL A LIE AGAINST THE TRUTH!  Verse 16 describes the result as “disorder and every evil thing.”
The beautiful contrast is in 17 and 18...  “THE WISDOM FROM ABOVE”!
The WORDS are...   pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
God gives the WISDOM FROM ABOVE...   TRUTH!
Satan produces the wisdom of the world!   IT IS A LIE AGAINST THE TRUTH!
There’s eternity Church...  THE TRUTH, OR THE LIE!
When we think about where our information comes from, we need to think on these things!

My Prayer:
Lord, help us to learn your wisdom in order to apply it in our lives.  Teach us to shun the wisdom of this world.  Remove all selfish, arrogant ambition from our hearts.  May we, as your servants, teach this world about love.     In Jesus name          Amen
